Mission Statement

Green Shoot Productions (GSP) is dedicated to commissioning and producing new writing for the stage to the highest possible standards.


Our key objective is to develop and produce plays that are socially and politically relevant to Northern Ireland facilitating debate within and across our communities and through theatre and related activities support meaningful engagement and education.


In delivery, Green Shoot Productions seeks to make professional theatre accessible to all and to contribute to the canon of Northern Irish theatre.

Born and brought up in Belfast, Martin has combined his roles of writer and producer for over 30 years. He has written plays for a wide variety of theatre companies, BBC Radio 4 and screen. One of Northern Ireland’s most controversial writers, Martin was awarded the prestigious award of Belfast Ambassador July 2013.

Deirdre graduated with a Masters in Professional and Management Development from the University Of Ulster in June 2004. Deirdre has worked as Project Administrator for GBL Productions, Green Shoot Productions and MAC Productions since 2005.

Tom brings 18 years’ experience of designing and coordinating a diverse range of community engagement projects and programmes. He started working with Green Shoot Productions in 2017 and is delighted to be enabling participatory and professional theatre. He is a graduate of Queens University Belfast.
