This new adaptation of Ulster’s most famous and controversial play Over the Bridge opened for a 50th Anniversary Production at the Waterfront Hall. The production deals with the political tensions at Belfast Shipyard during the 1950s IRA Border Campaign.

When political tensions rise at the Shipyard, as a result of the IRA Border Campaign, a group of Protestant men employed at the Shipyard take the opportunity to expel known Catholic workers. The play centres on the treatment of one young Catholic worker, Peter O’Boyle (Billy Carter). When the mob threatens violence and gathers to expel the terrified O’Boyle, it is left to veteran Trade Unionist Davy Mitchell (Walter McMonagle), a Protestant, to stand by his fellow worker – with tragic circumstances.
