Two Sore Legs, from the sell-out trilogy Flesh and Blood Women, is a powerful, autobiographical play based on the playwright’s experiences of her own mother in the 1950’s.
The play tells the true story of the playwright’s mother Bridget, a young Butlins Redcoat from West Belfast who had 6 children with a married man. It explores the scandal, the pain, the joy and the fall-out from this extraordinary family arrangement and what it meant for Brenda, her siblings and of course her mother. From the rowdy and fractious relationship Bridget had with her own father to the explosive but hilarious visits of the local Parish Priest wanting to take her young children from her, this play exudes the most explicit of family emotions and experiences.
